1. Waste water collection and treatment
The collection of washing waste water from galvanic production is carried out separately from more concentrated electrolytes. Used lubricants and cleaning solutions are pre-cleaned. Part of the washout flows into the mixer-averager, where it is mixed with concentrates and coolant in a certain proportion.
2. Biological treatment
From the mixer-averager, waste water enters the biotank, which is a sealed device in which a specialized culture of sulfate-reducing bacteria is immobilized on loading. Sulfate reducers have the ability to reduce sulfates to hydrogen sulfide under anaerobic conditions with simultaneous oxidation of organic substances and destruction of phosphates, nitrates, and ammonium ions. Hydrogen sulfide-saturated waste water from the biotank is fed together with part of the washing effluents to the biochemical treatment reactor, where hydrogen sulfide reacts with dissolved metal ions to form insoluble sulfides. Since the solubility of most metal sulfides is much lower than that of metal hydroxides, very low concentrations of metals are possible in treated wastewater.
3. Physical and chemical post-treatment
For deodorization and additional oxidation of organic substances, waste water is subjected to ozonation. The removal of sludge containing sulfides of metals, is carried out in thin-layer sedimentation tanks. The treated waste water is discharged into the city sewer system. If it is necessary to install a reverse water supply system, the complex is additionally equipped with a fine filtration unit.
4. Sludge treatment
The separated sludge is dewatered mechanically and sent for disposal.
